CBT modules to grow and develop seafarers’ soft skills
SQLearn and VENLYS have designed and developed four CBT modules, in the field of “Human element, Human Performance & Soft Skills”, that help seafarers grow and develop their soft skills.
Hose Handling Cranes
Hose Handling Cranes online course provides guidance in order to ensure the smooth operation of the ship’s crane. Working on board a cargo vessel is a dangerous job, especially during crane operations. Any number of errors or missed opportunities for safety precautions could lead to an accident, that may result in injuries or even death. Unfortunately, there are many examples of workers in the shipping industry getting hurt or even killed, during crane or cargo operations. Therefore, the necessary pre-operational checks, appropriate maintenance and smooth operation of the ship’s crane should be applied to ensure safety on board.
VR-ME: SQLearn at the European Parliament demonstrating virtual reality simulator for maritime emergencies
A consortium of EU fisheries experts together with the Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Mr Gabriel Mato, co-hosted a successful event to present a virtual reality simulator for maritime emergencies. The event brought together a wide range of fisheries stakeholders, including representatives of EU Institutions, industry and civil society that appreciated the innovative tool.

STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF) refresher online course, A-VI/1-2
This course aims to provide training for candidates in fire prevention and firefighting, based on the guidelines of STCW 78/95, Section A-VI/1 and IMO Model Course 1.20. This course covers the requirements of STCW 78/95, Section A-VI/1, Par. 2, Table A-VI/2 on meeting the minimum standard of competence in fire prevention and firefighting. A trainee will be competent to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and ship and to use fire appliances correctly. The trainees will also acquire knowledge of fire prevention.
