Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses or parasites. Many organisms live in and on our bodies. They are normally harmless or even helpful but under certain conditions the equilibrium of normal function of the human organism changes and disease occurs. Some infectious diseases transmit directly from person to person and others are transmitted by insects or other animals. We may get others by consuming contaminated food or water or being exposed to organisms in the environment.
The development of SeaHealth’s first e-learning module, entitled “Basic Life Support”, has been completed. This module will be the reference model for the first evaluation of platform’s learning service quality. At the same time, the development of the other modules is in progress and they will soon be delivered to their potential users for evaluation.

Ιn the framework of the “SeaHealth” project, the research team of EKPA, in collaboration with SQLearn and DANAOS, carried out a study to record the training needs of the potential users of the online platform, so as for the project team to decide on the educational modules that will be developed.
Maritime personnel is a key determinant for the development of the online training platform that will be created in the context of SeaHealth project, for dealing with medical incidents onboard.
