Improper discharge of water from tanks can have severe consequences. Thus, specific rules and regulations should be followed and the oil content of discharged water should be constantly and accurately measured, in order to quickly stop discharge, if the oil content exceeds the allowable limits. This monitoring is done by the Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (ODME), in which this course focuses on.
